
With Meta stepping away from D&I (Diversity & Inclusion) programs and changing its internal policies “in favor of freedom of expression," I can’t help but wonder: Is Diversity & Inclusion truly fading?
For 5 years, I’ve advocated that businesses must reflect the diversity of society, not just to represent it but to create environments where people thrive; for their own well-being and for the success of organizations. Taking this issue into consideration is not only the way for companies to be aligned with the social responsibility principles but it’s also a guaranty for them to be more attractive to best talents and more successful on stock exchanges.

Despite the fact that today’s society seems to be shifting, the trend is irreversible. The French President, Mr. Macron recently declared that, we are witnessing a “new international reactionary movement,” where fear of the future fuels more cautious stances.
Humanity faces huge challenges: climate change, technological disruption, economic inequality and demographic shifts. These changes demand a workforce that is adaptable, creative and united. I am convinced that diversity and inclusion is a fundamental aspect contributing to business success. The question is simple: Do we face all these challenges with courage or retreat into fear?
While some close themselves off and try to polarize, others (often global actors) are adapting and thriving in this moment of change. D&I isn’t about politics; it’s about progress, equality, and creating opportunities for every citizen in the world. These are universal values, transcending culture, politics and religion and they have already contributed to an inevitable movement for over 60 years.
Diversity and Inclusion aren’t optional—they’re the foundation of progress and a better, more inclusive future. These times are challenging, yes but they’re also paving the way to a better future. Will we be the generation that regressed—or the one that rose?
